Ritesh Sidhwani's Mother Passes Away: Farhan Akhtar, Chunky Panday And Others Offer Condolences
In an unfortunate incident, Don 3 producer Ritesh Sidhwani's mother, Mrs Leelu Sidhwani, passed away on May 17. The family released the news early in the morning, marking a somber day for those close to the Sidhwanis. Many celebrities, including Malaika Arora, were seen visiting the hospital to offer their condolences on Friday. Ritesh Sidhwani himself was also spotted with his family during this difficult time. According to The Times of India, Farhan Akhtar was among the first to visit and extend his support to the family. Other notable figures, such as veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and actor Chunky Panday, were also present to pay their respects. 

The official statement from the family read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing away of Mrs. Leelu Sidhwani on May 17, 2024. Prayers will be held on May 18, 2024, at Quantum Park RG level at 3:15 pm. Cremation will be held at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium at 4:30 pm. Quantum Park address: RG Level, Union Park, Khar West.”Despite the personal tragedy, Ritesh Sidhwani continues to be engaged in his professional commitments. In a recent conversation, he discussed the significance of casting the right actors for their films and addressed the criticism that often precedes the release of major projects like Don 3. 

He remarked, “It’s nothing. We will answer that when we come to Don 3. When you see the trailer, you tell me if that guy lives up to what the character [demands in the film]. Now, it’s our job to make sure it happens.” His confidence in the project and the casting choices underscores his commitment to delivering quality cinema.Sidhwani also shared insights on the evolving landscape of casting in movies and online shows. He pointed out that when web series first emerged in India, the emphasis was on selecting the best actors for the roles. 




However, in the past two years, with many prominent Bollywood actors transitioning to online platforms, the casting process has evolved. Despite the influx of big-name stars, Sidhwani emphasized that his approach has always been to choose actors who best fit the roles rather than pursuing star power. He explained that writing a script with a specific actor in mind can be problematic if the project falls through, leading to discouragement for the writer. The flexibility offered by OTT platforms allows for casting decisions that prioritize the suitability of the actor for the role over their celebrity status or image.

Ritesh Sidhwani's reflections highlight the balance between personal loss and professional resilience, showcasing his dedication to both his family and his craft.
